NOTE: All the illustrations with pictures from my PC have the system language in Spanish because I'm from Mexico.
WARNING: The original document is in Microsoft Word format and includes illustrations to make more easy this process, to get access to the file, donwload it from RapidShare: http://rapidshare.com/files/77811311/Copying_data_to_iPod_Touch_memory.doc.html
If not previously installed, download Filezilla from http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client and install it on the computer with access to a Wireless Network.
To can access the iPod touch, you have to install in the iPod Touch 4 packages to grant the communication between your computer and the ipod memory. First open Installer.App, go to install section and open Sources Category, you have to install Community Sources from the list. Make a tap over it and select Install button.
Press the Home button of the iPod, that will block the screen, unblock it and enter again in the Installer.App.
Now install the BSD Subsystem located in the System Catergory. It will take a littlemore time, is a 6.6MB download. When it's done, press again the Home button and unlock the screen.
Open again the Installer, it's time to install OpenSSH used for the transfer of the files, it's in the System Category. Install, press Home, Unlock...
The last component is the Services, and is on the Utilities category. Install it, press Home, unlock screen...
When all this utilities are installed, in the program list, locate the icon of Services, open it and make active SSH. Also mak sure is activated in the program named SSH in the program list.
In Settings, make sure the Wi-Fi is enabled and the iPod connected to a Wireless Network. When is connected, click the blue circle with the white arrow there to access the IP Adress of the iPod Wi-Fi connection.
Now open FileZilla.
In FileZilla, press Ctrl+S to open Site Manager or select from File Menu.
Now the Site Manager windown will popup in the screen. Click the New Site button. In Server, type the IP Address of the iPod touch. Leave port in blank. Server Type must be configured as SFT- SSH File Transfer Protocol. Access Mode as Normal, User must be root, be sure you retype the password, the default password is alpine.
Click on the Connect button and if all is configured OK, the Site Manager window will close and you will be able to see the iPod Touch file structure.
FileZilla main Window.
Here is presented the FileZilla window now that the connection is done successfully.
For example, if you have installed the ScreenShot App in the iPod, then you will know that the default folder for the screenshoots is /tmp. So get into that folder in the right panel that represents the ipod touch file browser and find it. If you had take some screenshots there will be. That´s the way I've put some illustrations of my iPod for the explanation process.
I hope this tutorial serves as a guide for you, so if you have comments just post them on the video section for post or make me know in a message to my YouTube Account.
Good luck with the mod.
