Présentation : Speaker jmfriedt GNURadio as a signal processing prototyping tool for becoming familiar with analog and digital communication methods. We demonstrate the use of this software environment for implementing new digial communication mode decoding algorithms, qualifying low frequency circuits by using the audio card as a network analyzer, all the way to developing a FMCW RADAR. Radiofrequency communication has become ubiquoutous in the daily life of most of the western and south east asian population. Nevertheless, the availabillity of this wide collection of radiocommunication interfaces does not mean that on the one hand people are aware of openly communicating most data over the ether, and on the other hand of the technology related with wireless radiofrequency communication and hence how to hack in the available hardware for applications most useful to one's daily activity. On the other hand, signal processing, especially applied to radiofrequency signals, exhibits a steep learning curve. We wish to demonstrate how opensource tools such as the GNURadio software environment provides wonderful opportunities for understanding some of the basics of radiofrequency analog and digital communication. Most significantly, this discovery is done through prototyping at the software level, so that little monetary investment is needed other than access to a computer fitted with a sound card or a Digital Video Broadcast DVB receiver. We will demonstrate how a given 25-euro hardware allows for receiving analog communication signals commercial FM , digital modes radiomodem and ACARS communication protocol between planes and airports , and with a bit more understanding the implementation of a continuous wave RADAR as originally demonstrated at http ocw.mit.edu resources res-ll-0... using dedicated hardware, and even weather satellite images broadcasted from Low Earth Orbitting LEO satellites, as was demonstrated with dedicated hardware a few years ago at WTH.
